Adele denies Album of the Year, says, ‘Beyoncé Deserves It’: Grammy 2017

13 Feb 2017

Adele was awarded the coveted Album of the Year award at this year’s Grammys, but instead insisted that Beyoncé deserved it more than her. The ‘Hello’ singer received the award for her latest offering, ‘25’; however, when she was called to receive it, she claimed that she wasn’t the worthy recipient. Adele broke her Grammy for Album of the Year in half on stage at the award ceremony on Sunday night so that she could give the crowning part to Beyoncé. Adele said, "I can't possibly accept this award," she said during her acceptance speech. "The Lemonade album was just so monumental, Beyoncé. It was so monumental and well thought-out and beautiful and soul-bearing... we appreciate that. All of us artists here adore you. You are our light." Adele also received ‘Song of the Year’ and ‘Record of the Year’ for her chart-topping single ‘Hello’.

This year, Beyoncé received more nominations than any other artist with a staggering nine nods, as well as giving an elaborate performance during the ceremony. Let’s say its twin luck for Beyoncé! -WTN
