Delhi proposes 50% profit cap on medicines at hospitals
Addressing the media Jain said the draft advisory would now be put in the public domain for objections and suggestions for 30 days.
According to the draft advisory the price of medicines and consumables could be a maximum of 50 per cent more than the purchase price or it could be the MRP whichever is lower.
In December the Delhi government formed a nine-member committee to put a cap on the profit on medicines and consumables in private hospitals and nursing homes.
The committee had experts including members from the Indian Medical Association and the Delhi Medical Council among others.
Setting up the committee Jain had said hospitals make profits of upto 500 and 1 000 per cent which was not acceptable.
