New Delhi June 5 (IANS) Delhi s power demand soared to an all-time high of 6 361 MW on Monday afternoon a steep increase of 10 per cent over Sunday.
The record for Delhi s peak power demand stood at 6 261 MW in June last year.
With maximum temperature touching 45 degrees Celsius on Monday the peak power demand was recorded at 6 361 MW at 3.06 p.m. according to data from the State Load Dispatch Centre.
On Sunday the maximum load was recorded at 5 775 MW.
Delhi s peak power demand crossed the 6 000 MW mark for the first time in May last year before breaching the 6 200 mark in June.
Even as power cuts were observed in different parts of the city the government officials said the power infrastructure was prepared to withstand load up to 6 600 MW.
