Red
Red is the colour of love, passion, power and action, but it also represents purity and opulence. It is the colour that married women wear with reverence. It is the colour of sexuality, motivation, confidence and even aggression. Hence, it is known as the colour of extremes. it induces the feeling of strength and power.
Pink
Pink is the colour of charm, politeness, femininity, and romance. A splash of pink gulal in the air or smearing spreads joy, fun and vibrancy. The colour seeks acceptance, admiration and unconditional love. Though it sometimes is associated with anger and resentment, it also reassures the emotional energies.
Orange
Orange depicts ambition and creativity. It is a blend of red’s energy and yellow’s freshness and joy. Thus it oozes enthusiasm, fascination, attraction, success and stimulation. On the other hand it is also an aggressive colour.
Blue
Undoubtedly, blue portrays calmness, spiritual vibrancy and activeness. It is also the colour of trusting relationships and loyalty, yet it is rigid and hates to change. It is a colour of persistence and determination. It lives in the past and relates its experiences to the present and future. It is one of the most preferred colours of Holi. However, it is also associated with loneliness at times.
Green
Green is the colour of nature, harvest, fertility, a fresh start, vitality. It is the colour that denotes balance and harmony. Green is an observer, an excellent listener and a giver. It is the epitome of mental clarity, optimism and calmness – the little attributes of yellow and blue which when mixed together gives green. Green also has good judgement prowess and supports the ‘right decisions’. However, green could also mean envy, jealousy and over-cautiousness. The colour is often related to Lord Krishna.
Yellow
It is the colour of spring, sunshine, happiness, warmth, enlightenment, and healing powers. It relates to acquired knowledge and reverberates with logic. More than this, it offers hope and cheerfulness and inspires positive thoughts and breakthroughs. It is also an excellent communicator and colour of the planet Jupiter.
White
The essence of purity and peace is well drawn in white. It symbolises angels, virginity, happiness, perfection, protection, truth and dignity. White is also the colour of fresh starts, stimulates senses, fairness and impartiality. It amplifies everything and hence, cannot be hidden.
It cleanses the thoughts and strengthens the energy system within. However, it is also the picture of detachment, disinterest, mourning and coldness.
Violet/ Purple
Violet or purple represents femininity, royalty and mystery. It has the stability of blue and the energy of red thus signifying power, luxury or extravagance, ambition, wisdom, creativity and independence. Purple is rarely found in nature and is a favourite of the pure hearted.
Black
Black has negative connotations and depicts fear, grief, depression, power, death, evil, and mystery. It is associated with elegance, formality, strength and authority. Those who are fond of black may be quiet sophisticated and suave in their approach and may often fall in the category of conventional or serious people.
