Rio de Janeiro June 30 (IANS) Ecuador international midfielder Michael Arroyo has joined Gremio as the Brazilian football club bolsters its squad for the Copa Libertadores knockout phase.
The 30-year-old will be tied to the Porto Alegre outfit until December 2019 after parting ways with Mexico s Club America reports Xinhua news agency.
He is the second Ecuador international in Gremio s squad joining forward Miller Bolanos.
I chatted briefly with Miller and he spoke really well of the group. I have been watching Gremio in the Copa Libertadores so I know the team well. I m very happy to be here and I hope that I can help bring success to the club Arroyo told Gremio s official website.
Gremio are currently second in Brazil s Serie A standings with seven wins from 10 matches.
The club s next fixture in the Copa Libertadores -- South America s top club competition -- is a round of 16 clash with Argentina s Godoy Cruz on July 4.
