Chennai April 18 (IANS) Former Union Finance Minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday accused the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of making extraordinary and ridiculous allegation against his son Karti P. Chidambaram.
In a statement issued here the senior Congress leader said the Enforcement Directorate s Monday press release does not relate to any specific act on the part of Karti.
Instead it makes (ED s press release) the extraordinary and ridiculous allegation that Karti appears to be the controller and ultimate beneficiary of certain transactions of two companies Chidambaram said.
According to the former Union Minister the words appears to be in the ED statement simply means the investigating agency is making a wild allegation just to drag Karti into the case.
He said suitable reply will be given if the ED s notice is served on Karti.
On April 17 the ED press release said it had issued notice to Vasan Health Care Pvt. Ltd. its promoter and Karti Chidambaram and Advantage Strategic Consulting for allegedly violating foreign currency laws.
