New Delhi Oct 11 (IANS) Four members of the Vicky Jharodia gang -- who were wanted for crimes like murder attempted murder robberies extortions and snatchings -- have been arrested in west Delhi police said on Wednesday.
Police said accused Mohit Jasbeer Govinda Bhardwaj and Vishal -- all residents of Nangloi and Tilak Nagar areas -- were arrested on Tuesday on a tip-off when they were driving around in a stolen car near the Punjabi Bagh chowk.
"Police flagged their car to stop at a barricade after which the accused tried to flee the spot by brandishing a firearm at the police team but were overpowered " Deputy Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar told IANS.
A countrymade pistol a knife and a stolen Maruti Swift car were seized Vijay Kumar said. Gang leader Mohit is wanted in a firing incident in Nihal Vihar area.
Police said the gang members stole motorcycles and snatched mobile phones and valuables from women on the streets as well.
Mohit was convicted in a stabbing case in 2015 and sent to jail where he came in contact with west Delhi s notorious criminal Vicky Jharodia and joined his gang. He is involved in more than 10 cases registered under the Arms Act extortion and attempt to murder.
