Director Mahesh Dattani said that keeping 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream' written by Shakespeare, as the base story, this play talks about the Baiga tribe of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The play shows glimpses of the tradition and village surrounding.
As per the plot, there is a Thakur who falls in love with a girl living in Maharashtra marries her and brings her to his village. The girl gradually adapts to the tradition and mannerisms of dressing up and other rituals. later, when the village people come to the city, the city culture seems to take over their habits and behaviour and that’s when relations start to get bitter.
Mahesh says that there is a lot of experimentation in the script. Apart from this, in a wedding celebration when the guest from the city come for a wedding they love to take part in the folk dance while the villagers are more inclined towards disco and rap. The play was well set with musical instruments like guitar, keyboard, and harmonium.
