HC seeks safety report from DMRC, Delhi Police

18 Sep 2017

New Delhi Sep 18 (IANS) The Delhi High Court on Monday asked the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Delhi Police to file a report on the safety and security of metro commuters.

A division bench of Justices Siddharth Mridul and Nazmi Waziri asked DMRC and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) which is responsible for the security at Delhi Metro stations to hold a meeting within two weeks and discuss safety requirements for metro passengers.

The court listed the matter for October 26 for further hearing.

The court was hearing a suo motu habeas corpus after reading a news report that a 19-year-old woman with speech and hearing impairment had gone missing on April 21. Later the girl was traced to Rewari district in Haryana.
