Mumbai June 5 (IANS) Twenty-one leading importers from China Iran Japan Australia Mauritius South Korea and the UAE along with nearly 100 exporters from India participated on the opening day of the Mango Buyer-Seller Meet (BSM) here on Monday.
The two-day event is being organised by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
State horticulture departments from 10 mango producing states displayed a wide range of varieties grown in the respective states. APEDA showcased a range of fresh fruits at its pavilion to sensitise the importers about the offerings by India in fresh sector the Commerce Ministry said in a statement.
Along with the fresh fruits segment value-added products of mango such as mango pulp pickles chutneys jams jellies and juices were also displayed.
Some leading exporters such as Bombay Exports Asar Brothers and Kaybee Exports spoke about the good response received during the event.
One of the leading importers Dalian Yidu from China having a chain of stores interacted with the Indian exporters and expressed positive response towards the Indian fruit the statement said.
Sampling of different commercial varieties of mango like Alphonso Kesar Banganpalli Totapuri Dussheri Langda and Chausa along with local indigenous varieties like SelamGundu Mallika Peter Rumani Neelam HimamPasand Mulgoa Kundath ArkaAnmol and Fazli was the highlight of the event.
On Tuesday visit of importers to common infrastructure facilities like gamma irradiation hot water treatment vapour heat treatment and integrated pack house is being organised here to showcase India s capability the statement noted.
