Imran Khan summoned for misusing government copters

12 Jul 2018
Islamabad July 12 (IANS) Pakistan s National Accountability Bureau on Thursday summoned cricketer-turned- politician Imran Khan in connection with an ongoing inquiry into the "misuse" of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government s helicopters for personal use.
A notice has been issued to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chairman to appear before the NAB in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on July 18 an official told Dawn.
NAB chairman retired Justice Javed Iqbal had in February this year directed the bureau s provincial director general to conduct an inquiry against the PTI chief and then KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak over unofficial use of two government helicopters - a MI-17 and an Ecureuil.
A press release issued by the bureau had stated that there was documentary evidence that Khan paid Rs 2.1 million for using an Mi-17 and an Ecureuil helicopter belonging to the provincial government for a total of 74 hours.
Khan had claimed at a party meeting that he had not used official helicopters of the province for personal use.
