Its Sisters’ Day not Valentines Day on February 14 in Pakistan !

Customs, traditions and values have always been a part of any society. But, many a times as the civilization is moving ahead, new ways of living life and blending into society erupt and get established.

Valentines day celebrations have become a part and parcel globally. In many societies, Valentines day celebrations are not accepted and considered as import from western countries.  In the opposition to  Valentine’s Day in Pakistan seems set to start early this year. With February 14 still a month away, a University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) has started a  debate by announcing plans to celebrate ‘Sisters’ Day’ as an alternate to Valentine’s Day according to Pakistan Media. ‘Sisters’ Day’ has been conceived with the aim of promoting respect for women according to the Vice-Chancellor .

The Islamabad High Court had in 2017 and 2018 banned all Valentines day celebrations, warning the print and electronic media to “stop all Valentine’s Day promotions immediately”. -Window To News
