New Delhi July 18 (IANS) The government on Tuesday said that new airports will be known by the name of the city they serve.
According to Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha naming of airports after eminent personalities can potentially create confusion among passengers and "may also be contentious at times due to political nature of the requests."
"Hence in future as a policy the airports may be known by the name of the city in which they are located served. However names of existing airports need not be changed disturbed " the minister informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply to a question.
