New Delhi Feb 9 (IANS) BJP President Amit Shah s bike rally with one lakh motorists to be held on February 15 in Harayana s Jind may face trouble on grounds of pollution with the NGT on Friday seeking the state government s response.
The National Green Tribunal asked the Haryana government to file a response by February 13.
The order came after an affidavit was filed by petitioner Sameer Sodhi who pointed out at the health impact that such a rally would cause.
The plea said that instead of motorcycles the government should ask the participants to go for environment-friendly modes of transport.
"Direct the respondents (authorities) to either reduce the number of motorbikes... or use more environment friendly modes and methods such as bicycles by foot or e-rickshaws " Sodhi said.
The petitioner also asked them to constitute a committee to assess the adverse impacts of air and noise pollution if the proposed rally was taken out.
