Vatican City June 19 (IANS/AKI) Pope Francis on Monday drew inspiration from 17th-century English metaphysical poet and cleric John Donne tweeting: None of us is an island.
None of us is an island autonomous and independent from others read the tweet on his nine-language @pontifex account which has over 30 million followers.
We can only build the future by standing together including everyone the tweet went on.
In Meditation #17 of his 1623 prose work Devotions upon Emergent Occasions Donne famously wrote: No man is an island entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent a part of the main.
The no man is an island quotation has since become one of the best-known in the English-speaking world.
