It's mandatory for vehicles with BS-6 emission standards to have one centimeter long green sticker
JUNE 08 (WTN) - As you may be aware, BS emission standards are being adopted in the country to control harmful fumes emanating from vehicles due to ever increasing environmental pollution. New guidelines regarding BS standards are issued from time to time by the court and the government.
In this context, now, it will be mandatory to apply one centimeter long green sticker on the vehicles with BS-6 emission standards. The installation of green stickers on BS-6 vehicles will be effective from 1 October 2020. Through an amendment in the Motor Vehicles (High Security Registration Plates) Order, 2018 from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the order has been issued as a notification that vehicles with BS-6 emission standards will have to put a one centimeter stikar above the third registration plate.
For your information, let's know that earlier the government had said that from April 1, 2019, High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) wouldl be installed on all motor vehicles. This registration plate will be such that it cannot be tampered with. Actually, the order of the green sticker has been issued because there was a demand that vehicles with BS-6 emission standard should be identified separately.
Explain that a separate sticker system is already available in other countries, which is also called third number plate. This third number plate is fit by the vehicle manufacturer in the windshield of every vehicle.
Actually, a chromium-based hologram in HSRP is placed on the top left corner of the number plate on both sides. Apart from this, it has been made mandatory to have laser branding of Permanent Identification Number with a minimum of 10 digits in the reflective sheeting on the left side on the registration plate. At the same time, the third number plate will also have color coding according to the fuel used in the vehicle.
This color coding will identify the vehicles causing pollution. Light blue color coding will be done on vehicles operating on petrol or CNG. While on diesel vehicles, this coding will be of saffron color. This way the sticker will be able to detect what kind of pollution is being caused by the vehicle.
