Beijing Oct 3 (IANS) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit China on Monday the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.
Pompeo s visit comes at a time when the ties between Beijing and Washington have hit rock bottom due to the ongoing nasty trade war.
He will reach Beijing after meeting North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on Sunday in Pyongyang.
During Pompeo s visit China and the US would exchange views on bilateral ties and regional and international issues of common concern the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said in a statement.
There seems no let-up in tensions between the world s two largest economies who have slapped each other s goods with tariffs worth billions.
Besides US imposing sanctions on Chinese military unit and officials for buying Russian aircraft and Beijing s tit-for-tat move to cancel security talks with Washington have added fuel to the fire.
Pompeo will also travel to Japan South Korea between September 6 and September 8.
