Srinagar Feb 22 (IANS) Heavy snow and rainfall is forecast in Jammu and Kashmir from friday evening the local weather office said.
"A fresh Western Disturbance is most likely to affect J&K and adjoining area from February 23 (Night) to February 25 Forenoon). The main activity of this system (moderate to heavy rainfall/snowfall) is likely to occur during February 24 and gradual decrease thereafter.
"Under the influence of this system moderate rain/snow is expected at widespread places of Jammu and the Kashmir Valley and moderate snowfall in Ladakh mainly Kargil district " said the Met office in a statement.
"Higher reaches of the Valley and Jammu region are most likely to receive heavy rain/snow " it said adding that this may lead disruption of surface transportation mainly the Jammu-Srinagar national highway.
