New Delhi March 23 (IANS) A high-level committee chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday approved a total of nearly Rs 5 021-crore assistance to 10 states affected by natural disasters.
Andhra Pradesh will get Rs 584.21 crore Assam Rs 269.40 crore Bihar Rs 822.96 crore Himachal Pradesh Rs 152.28 crore Karnataka Rs 171.69 crore Manipur Rs 19.11 crore Rajasthan Rs 370.27 crore Tamil Nadu Rs 2014.45 crore Telangana Rs 314.22 crore and Uttar Pradesh Rs 303.05 crore.
Of the total assistance Rs 4 979.97 crore has been approved from the National Disaster Response Fund and Rs 40.67 crore from the National Rural Drinking Water Programme.
The committee examined the reports of an Inter-Ministerial Central Team that visited these 10 states affected by floods landslides cloudbursts hailstorms cyclones and drought durign kharif season a government statement said.
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Radha Mohan Singh Union Home Secretary Rajiv Mehrishi and senior representatives from NITI Aayog and ministries of home agriculture and finance also attended the meeting.
