Tokyo Feb 27 (IANS) Tokyo stocks dropped from the bell on Monday as a fall in commodities prices coupled with a firm yen against the US dollar dented early investor sentiment.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 164.99 points or 0.86 per cent from Friday to 19 118.55 Xinhua news agency reported.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange meanwhile fell 14.08 points or 0.91 per cent to 1 536.06.
On the main section all industry categories retreated from the bell into negative territory with notable decliners comprising mining security and oil and coal product-linked stocks.
