London Aug 18 (IANS) West Bromwich Albion coach Tony Pulis on Friday revealed that the club had turned down a 19.7-million-euro ($23.15 million) bid from fellow English Premier League side Manchester City for Northern Irish defender Jonny Evans.
Pulis speaking at a press conference on the eve of facing Burnley in a away match said his skipper was not for sale as the club had no need to sell him reports Efe.
"The two things are that we don t want to sell him and we don t need to sell him " Pulis said.
"We re not desperate to get the money. So it would have had to be a very very good offer " he added.
Manchester City showed interest in the 29-year-old Evans weeks ago to strengthen its defensive line with central defenders Vincent Kompany Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones as regular players in the starting line-up.
Evans a former Manchester United player became a high-priority target for City during the current transfer window after Southampton made clear that Dutch centre-half Virgil van Dijk was not for sale.
