New Delhi March 14 (IANS) Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi on Wednesday launched "Redmi 5" in India with 18:9 display for Rs 7 999 for the base variant with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.
"Redmi 5" has 7.7-mm metal body which makes it the slimmest smartphone in the Redmi series and has a 5.7-inch screen for an immersive viewing experience the company said in a statement.
The device will be available in a weekly sale starting March 20 across Mi.com Amazon and Mi Home stores for Rs 8 999 and Rs 10 999 for 3GB and 32GB storage and 4GB with 64GB internal memory variants respectively.

The smartphone will also be made available across all Xioami s offline partners in the coming weeks the company said in a statement.
The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 Octa-core processor with 14nm "FINFET" technology.
There is a 12MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera with LED selfie-light. A 3 300mAh battery fuels the device.
