Imphal May 2 (IANS) Four members of Myanmar s Rohingya Muslim minority were arrested in Manipur s Moreh town police said on Wednesday.
Tengnoupal district Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Ibomcha on Tuesday night launched a combing operation in the border town after receiving a directive from the union Home Ministry to ensure that the Rohingyas who face persecution in their homeland do not enter Manipur.
Ibomcha said that the three men and a woman were staying at a hotel.
"They did not possess identity cards or any other important documents. They will be interrogated on how they entered the town and who their traffickers were " the SP said.
In April two men and one woman of the Rohingya community were arrested in Moreh.
The police had arrested a human trafficker along with three Rohingya girls in Jiribam district bordering Assam also in April.
They had entered Manipur from Bangladesh via Assam.
