Lahore Aug 21 (IANS) Pakistani sufi rock band Junoon s frontman Salman Ahmad says Pakistan is a country where artistes are an endangered species.
Sharing a link to the song "Sayonee" by Junoon featuring Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Ali Noor on Twitter on Monday Salman wrote: "In a country where artistes are an endangered species no open air concerts no international cricket Pakistani music rules!"
One Twitter user disagreed with him and said: "There are plenty of artistes! In every college of Lahore you have high quality artistes but they don t have the major platform to perform."
He replied saying: "It s the government s responsibility to protect the life and property of its citizens including artistes. Major platforms have to be provided by the government."
The Lahore-based guitarist and songwriter had unveiled Junoon s 25th anniversary special album "Junoon 25" in various countries last year.
