Lucknow March 14 (IANS) The 40-year-old son of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) legislator shot himself at his home in Chinhat area here on Wednesday police said.
Vikas Verma was the only son of Lalji Verma who is a former state minister and legislator from Katehri state assembly seat of Ambedkar Nagar in Uttar Pradesh.
Family members rushed him to the trauma centre at the King George s Medical University (KGMU) here but he could not be saved a family member told IANS.
Vikas who was reportedly suffering from an abdominal ailment had made a similar attempt a year back by shooting himself at a gym in Ambedkar Nagar. He was saved that time by timely medical intervention.
He worked with the Mandi Samiti but had resigned. His wife works as a drug inspector with the state government and is posted here.
He had no interest in politics one of his relatives said.
