New Delhi May 3 (IANS) The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday approved a new central sector Scheme for Agro-Marine Processing and Development of Agro-processing Clusters (SAMPADA).
Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the objective of the scheme was to implement agriculture modernise processing and decrease agri-waste.
With an allocation of Rs 6 000 crore SAMPADA is expected to benefit 20 lakh farmers.
