CBI files chargesheet in Gurugram school murder case

05 Feb 2018

Gurugram Feb 5 (IANS) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the murder of a Class 2 student in a Gurugram school last year filed a chargesheet on Monday against a Class XI student of the same school for allegedly killing the boy.

The chargesheet was filed before the court of Additional Sessions Judge Jasbir Singh Kundu which is treating the accused juvenile as an adult for the alleged murder.

Moreover the court on Monday once again rejected the fresh bail application of juvenile Bholu .

"The details of the chargesheet are awaited " said a prosecution lawyer.

Earlier the court had barred the media from using the name of the 17-year-old accused in the case and asked it to use fictitious names instead. While the seven-year-old victim was named "Prince" by the court the juvenile accused was named "Bholu" and the private school in Bhondsi was referred to as "Vidyalaya".

Lawyers for the accused sought bail for him which was rejected by the court on January 8.

The court also slapped a Rs 21 000 fine on the defence for filing unnecessary applications and wasting time of the court.

On January 3 the teenager was presented in the Sessions Court and was sent back to the protection home for 14 days judicial custody.

Last week for the first time the accused was presented before the Sessions Court after the Gurugram Juvenile Justice Board on December 20 ordered that the accused would be tried as an adult.

The accused is in an observation home in Faridabad Haryana.

Officers from the CBI said the accused murdered the boy just to defer a unit test and a scheduled parent-teacher meeting.

Police had on September 8 arrested Ashok Kumar 44 a school bus conductor for allegedly killing the child.

The case was handed over to the CBI on September 22. It did not find any evidence against Kumar and took the Class XI student into custody on November 8. Kumar got bail on November 21.
