New Delhi Nov 30 (IANS) A cleric was beaten by three unknown bike-borne youths in a road rage incident here police said on Thursday.
The incident took place around 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday in west Delhi s Bawana area when Irshad Rehmani who is in his 40s and works in a Madarsa was walking to his home in Bawana J.J colony.
"Three youths were riding the bike in a reckless manner. When the bike touched Rehmani who was walking near the madarsa he protested and asked them to drive slow in the crowded street " Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajneesh Gupta told IANS.
"The accused then slapped him multiple times and fled when Rehmani informed the police control room. It was a minor injury and there is no communal angle to it."
However Rehmani alleged that the accused hurled religious slurs at him.
Gupta said that a case has been registered against the accused for voluntarily causing hurt and a probe is on to ascertain their identities.
