Buenos Aires Nov 28 (IANS) Diego Cocca has resigned as head coach of Argentine football outfit Racing Club following a 0-1 loss to rivals Independiente.
Juan Ramon Fleita will assume the role on an interim basis while the club seeks a permanent successor Racing officials said late Monday reports Xinhua news agency.
"This club is dear to me and I want what s best for it " Cocca told a press conference. He denied reports of a dressing room mutiny.
Racing are currently 19th in Argentina s Primera Division standings with just three wins from 10 matches so far this season.
The club was eliminated from the Copa Sudamericana earlier this month after 0-1 loss over two legs to Paraguay s Libertad.
Cocca joined Racing for a second time as manager this year having led the club to a league title during his first spell in charge in 2014.
The 45-year-old is the ninth coach to be sacked in Argentina s top division since September.
