Delhi government urges HC to allow purchase of 500 buses
The government told a bench of Chief Justice Rajendra Menon and Justice V. Kameswar Rao that the standard-floor buses proposed to be procured were disabled-friendly.
These buses have hydraulic lifts which will help the differently-abled people easily board and deboard.
The proposed purchase has been opposed by one Nipun Malhotra a differently-abled person who has contended that standard-floor buses were not disabled-friendly as they were mounted on a truck chassis and their height made it difficult for such people to board the vehicle.
In his plea he has sought directions to the Delhi government to make the city s roads government offices and public transport friendly to the differently-abled people.
