New Delhi Oct 13 (IANS) In a significant development following the Doklam standoff between the Indian and Chinese troops on the India-China-Bhutan international trijunction Gautam Bambawale India s High Commissioner to Pakistan has been appointed the country s new Ambassador to China.
A 1984 batch IFS officer Bambawale is expected to take up the new assignment shortly the External Affairs Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.
Bambawale knows Mandarin Chinese and has served in Hong Kong and Beijing earlier.
