Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim was convicted by a special CBI court in Panchkula. Quantum of punishment will be announced on August 28. He has been taken into custody by police.
Government had already made elaborate security arrangements as nearly two lac followers of Guemeet Ram Rahim thronged Panchkula. Despite all efforts the followers had refused to leave. Army has also been called to deal with any untoward incident. The journalist who exposed Ram Rahim rape case was shot dead outside his house 15 years ago. This case is also being heard by same court.
