New Delhi Aug 4 (IANS) All income tax offices will remain open till Saturday midnight to facilitate manual filing of income tax returns for the 2016-17 fiscal on the last day fixed for such filings the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said on Friday.
"August 5 being a Saturday the CBDT has directed that necessary arrangements be made for receiving income tax returns up to midnight at all income tax offices throughout the country " an official statement said here.
In view of the difficulties faced by taxpayers the due date for filing of ITR for 2016-2017 or Assessment Year 2017-2018 was extended till August 5 from earlier July 31.
