New Delhi Oct 12 (IANS) The Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) recorded a growth of 6.26 per cent in container cargo traffic in the first six months of the 2017-18 fiscal it was announced on Thursday.
The country s largest container port handled 2.4 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent unit) of cargo compared to 2.26 million TEUs in the corresponding period of the previous year a statement from the Shipping Ministry said.
"JNPT which handled a record 4.5 million TEUs in the previous financial year has sustained its momentum in the first six months of the current financial year as well " it said.
The Ministry said that JNPT has implemented various "Ease of Doing Business" initiatives for reduction in transaction cost and time consumed.
