Kuwait, Unicef sign pacts for Syrian refugees education

Kuwait May 29 (IANS/WAM) A Kuwaiti foundation and Unicef have signed two agreements worth $6 million to provide education for Syrian refugees in Lebanon and Jordan a Saudi News Agency said.

The agreements are part of Kuwait s pledge to aid Syrian refugees during the London Donors Conference for Syria in 2016 said Adnan Shihab-Eldin director-general of Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS).

The pledge was made by Kuwaiti Emir and KFAS Chairman Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Eldin noted that the first agreement signed in Dubai last March involves providing $3 million for education and professional training for about 4 500 Syrian refugees in Lebanon.

The second was signed on May 17th and involves $ 3 million for about 4 230 Syrians in Jordan he added.
