Mark Tully conferred RedInk Award for Lifetime Achievement

Mumbai May 19 (IANS) Former BBC correspondent and veteran journalist Sir William Mark Tully was conferred the Mumbai Press Club s RedInk Award 2018 for Lifetime Achievement a statement said here on Saturday.
Tully 82 was the BBC s New Delhi bureau chief for around 20 years before he quit in 1994 and has been earlier awarded the Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan.
"The award is in recognition of Tully s long and outstanding contribution to Indian journalism. Over several decades he came to personify BBC s timely and rigorous reporting of news in the subcontinent. In the days of government control it was to BBC and Tully s team the common man often turned to for final verification " the citation said.
The executive editor of Mirror Now Faye D Souza has bagged the RedInk Journalist of the Year Award for "her blistering coverage of issues like corruption and political opportunism that touch the lives of common people."
A total of 30 journalists were conferred the RedInk Awards in 11 different categories to individuals media orgnisations from more than 1 600 entries received this year.
