Shillong Dec 15 (IANS) Suspended Congress legislator Pynshngian N. Syiem on Friday resigned as member of the Meghalaya Assembly to join the newly-floated People s Democratic Front (PDF).
Syiem who is also the Chief Executive Member of the Khasi Hill Autonomous District Council was suspended from the primary membership of the party for anti-party activities in October 2016.
"I have submitted my resignation letter to Speaker (Abu Taher Mondal) as a member of the Assembly. My second step is to resign from the Congress " Syiem told journalists.
The former Congress legislator also announced he would formally join the PDF on December 19 and contest the upcoming 2108 assembly elections as its party candidate.
