Partly cloudy sky, showers likely in Delhi

New Delhi May 4 (IANS) It was partly cloudy in the national capital on Friday with the minimum temperature recorded at 22.6 degrees Celsius two notches below the season s average.



The maximum temperature was likely to hover around 35 degrees and certain patches of Delhi might receive rains the Met office said. There are chances of thunder and lightning developing towards the evening.

The excessive heat would however remain under control till Wednesday with another spell of showers expected in Delhi around May 8 the Skymet said.

"Another western disturbance will approach Delhi towards Tuesday. The temperature will remain below 40 till then. Though from tomorrow (Saturday) onwards mercury will rise marginally in Delhi " Mahesh Palawat director Skymet told IANS.

There was a good amount of rain received by the IGI Airport early on Friday.

According to Met different areas of Delhi received rains with Safdurjang recording 4.6mm Ayanagar recording 0.8mm Palam recording 0.3mm and Ridge area recording 2.5mm.

"There are less chances of rain only some patches may received it. However mercury would stay restricted around 35 degrees " an official from India Meteorological Department (IMD) told IANS.

According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting And Research (Safar) Delhi s air-quality has improved to moderate. The humidity 8.30 a.m. was 71 per cent.

Thursday maximum temperature was 35.2 degrees Celsius three notches below the season s average while the minimum temperature was recorded at 19.8 degrees five notches below the season s average.
