New Delhi Nov 10 (IANS) Sales of domestic passenger cars declined by 5.32 per cent in October as compared to the same period last year industry data showed on Friday.
According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) data 184 666 passenger cars were sold in October 2017 down from 195 036 in October 2016.
However the off-take of other sub-segments of passenger vehicle category such as utility vehicles edged-higher by 12.44 per cent during the month to 79 323 units while sales of vans rose by 4.97 per cent to 15 848 units.
Consequently the overall domestic passenger vehicle sales slipped by 0.30 per cent in October 2017 to 279 837 units from 280 677 units sold during the corresponding period in 2016.
