New Delhi Aug 21 (IANS) Following the death of a sewer cleaner in a government hospital the BJP on Monday demanded that a case of unintended murder must be registered against the officials concerned.
"A case of unintended murder must be immediately filed against the concerned PWD (Public Works Department) officials who allowed sewer cleaning work in a government hospital complex without ensuring compliance of safety regulations " Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Manoj Tiwari told reporters here.
He also demanded action against the Health and PWD Minister Satyendar Jain if Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal feels sorry for this death.
Tiwari s remarks came a day after a worker died while cleaning a sewer at the the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash hospital while three other workers were also injured.
Rishi Pal 40 died after inhaling poisonous gases from the sewer at the LNJP hospital sewer which was maintained by the PWD. Bishan 30 Kiran Pal 25 and Sumit 19 fell unconscious after inhaling poisonous gases from the sewer.
Rishi Pal s death was 10th in Delhi in barely over a month while cleaning a sewer.
The BJP leader also said that he will call upon Lt. Governor Anil Baijal to call an all party meeting in the matter of workers death as Delhi Jal Board and PWD have totally failed to take lesson from earlier deaths and provide safety measures to those involved in sewer cleaning.
Tiwari who represents the northeast parliamentary constituency said after the deaths at Chhatarpur and Lajpat Nagar the Kejriwal government tried to run away from responsibility by calling them private jobs.
"But now with the mishap happening in its own hospital complex there seems no excuse " he added.
