Shimla Jan 16 (IANS) The public sector power generator Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) a company that owns and operates India s largest hydropower project in Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday contributed Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister s Relief Fund.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur was presented a cheque of Rs 1 crore by SJVN Chairman-cum-Chief Managing Director Nand Lal Sharma here.
The Chief Minister said the funds would go a long way in helping the poorest of poor to meet their medical expenses. The employees of boards and corporations should also voluntarily donate towards the Chief Minister s Relief Fund he added.
Sharma informed the Chief Minister that against the target of generating 8 700 million units the SJVN has generated 9 045 million units for the year 2016-17. In this fiscal it has generated more than 8 660 million units till date.
He said the revenue from operation of the plant was Rs 2 468.66 crore and the net profit after tax was Rs 1 544.14 crore in 2016-17.
The SJVN is a joint venture of the government of India and the Himachal Pradesh government.
