Severe heat wave conditions engulf Haryana, Punjab
Hisar and Narnaul towns in Haryana sizzled at 45.5 and 45.3 degrees making them the hottest places in the region.
Bhiwani (44.8 degrees) Karnal (44) and Ambala (43.3) also experienced the heat wave.
Chandigarh recorded a high of 43 degrees. The temperature recorded at the airport was 43.8 degrees.
The maximum temperatures were four to six degrees above average Met department officials said here.
Amritsar city in Punjab recorded a high of 41.5 degrees while Ludhiana and Patiala cities were hotter with highs of 43 and 44 degrees respectively.
Met department officials said heat wave conditions would prevail over the region in the coming days and the weather would remain dry.
