Kolkata June 20 (IANS) Smoke was still emanating from merchant vessel SSL Kolkata that was devastated by a fire in the Bay of Bengal on June 14 even as the authorities continued with the salvage operation on Wednesday a defence spokesperson said.
" Minimal smoke (is) emanating from the ship. Salvage operation is in progress " the spokesperson said.
Meanwhile salvage operation experts from Holland were proceeding towards the vessel in a Coast Guard ship with additional specialist equipment for the operation.
A Tug from Kakinada is also being called for supporting the salvage operation the spokesperson said.
