Special Olympics Bharat receives $1mn to launch Mission Inclusion

New Delhi Aug 21 (IANS) Special Olympics Bharat has joined hands with the Lions Clubs International Foundation to launch a national partnership titled Mission Inclusion Bharat here receiving a $1 million grant for an initial period of three years it was announced on Monday.



The Mission Inclusion service will support inclusive programmes for individuals with intellectual disabilities as part of a multilateral commitment to forge full social inclusion according to a release.

Commenting on the programme launch Mary Davis Chief Executive Officer of Special Olympics said: "Together we have a most unique opportunity to bring this population out of the shadows and into the light of their families neighbourhoods communities and nation.

"Through "Mission Inclusion" and under the guidance and support of the Aruna Abhey Oswal Trust and Lions Clubs International Foundation we have the chance to amplify the voice of our athletes and bring this urgent message to the world."
