Bhopal: Art and Crafts place an important role in man's life and society. It seems that Art and Human life have been inseparable and is as old as tradition in human existence. Among the people of Manipur and Nagaland the pieces of Art manufactured by them can be classified from several angles but there is no any doubt that by using the local raw materials such as wood, bamboo, cane, metal, clay, animal horn, bone, cotton, grass etc they according the requirement of object and its utility, they confirm the unique character of 'unity in diversity of Indian Culture'. All such creative products are related to their daily life as well as the identity of community.

The Manipuris are well known for their Art of weaving whereas the Nagas are very famous for woodcraft. The colorful Manipuri dresses are woven by different colors, signs, symbols and motives which symbolically identify different groups and communities. The wood and metal crafts of Nagaland show the bravery and head hunting traditions. All these artistic products are associated with their ritual believes, ceremonial ethnicity, identity and several other domestic practices. The present exhibition is presenting a vivid and fascinating picture of each and every aspects of their life through Art and Crafts.
