Dehradun Jan 16 (IANS) Two teachers of Sherwood College in Uttarakhand have been sentenced to a year in jail after being found wanting in discharge of their duties during an excursion in which two students were killed after a tractor trolley they were travelling in overturned an official said.
A group of 42 students had gone to an excursion to Sitawani in Nanital district in 2010. They were accompanied by two teachers -- Ashish Dwivedi and Rohit Jalaal. The children were driven in a tractor trolley which overturned killing two students and injuring seven others.
The parents of the two students -- Anmol Bhatt (14) of Haldwani and Ibrahim Ansari (14) of Kanpur -- had filed a case against the tractor s driver Anand and the two teachers.
Judicial Magistrate Manju Devi agreed with the prosecution that the teachers were callous and held them and the driver guilty the official said.
