Lucknow Aug 14 (IANS) A senior sub-inspector of Uttar Pradesh police was killed and four policemen injured in a road accident in Mathura an official said on Monday.
The deceased - Zakir Ali posted at Sureer police station was on a patrolling duty when the police jeep collided with a tractor laden with bricks late on Sunday.
The tractor driver fled the accident scene. A police official said the bricks fell on Ali and he died on the spot.
The rescue team had a difficult time pulling out his body from under the pile of bricks.
Ali s body has been sent for autopsy. The other injured policemen have received medical care and are said to be out of danger.
