Dubai March 1 (IANS) Fernando Verdasco of Spain defeated compatriot Roberto Bautista Agut to enter the quarter-finals of the Dubai Tennis Championships here on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old Verdasco defeated Agut 6-4 3-6 7-5 in two hours and 25 minutes in their second round encounter.
Despite being better placed than Verdasco in the ATP rankings the 16th ranked Agut could not withstand the dominating performance by Verdasco.
The 35th ranked Verdasco will meet the winner of the second round clash between Frenchman Gael Monfils and England s Daniel Evans in the quarter-finals.
