What may be obscene to some may be artistic to other, Kerala HC on breastfeeding cover

23 Jun 2018
June 23 (WTN)- In a huge relief for Malayalam magazine Grihalakshmi, the Kerala High Court recently refused to categorise a cover of the magazine showing a model breastfeeding a child, as obscene.

"What may be obscene to some may be artistic to other; one man's vulgarity is another man's lyric," the Kerala HC said, dismissing a plea seeking action against Grihalakshmi magazine for featuring a model breastfeeding a baby on its cover.

There are taboos about the female body, says model Gilu Joseph who was shamed for breastfeeding on magazine cover. She also said that she had ‘no regrets’ about the controversy.

A mother breastfeeding her child is a noble act. And the cover depicts nothing more. The petitioner and his lawyer from Kerala   are looking for some cheap publicity at the cost of the model. HC set it right- wrote a person on social media.
