The passenger Geeta, holder of Overseas Indian Citizenship (OCI) was denied entry in India during immigration at Delhi Airport. She was sent back to Dubai, where she received her passport which was flown to her by Emirates Airlines.
Geeta, owner of a boutique in Manchester, had by mistake taken her husband’s passport and boarded the flight from Manchester city to Dubai. Her passport (although it was her husband’s passport) was checked at Manchester Airport during check-in and also while boarding her flight. The airport and airlines took it too casually and she went boarded the flight.
Because she had OCI card, she did not have to show her passport during her stopover in Dubai.
This incident shows that that the world still has to do a lot for proper security of passengers. If a female can board a flight on a males passport, what more can be expected? Terrorist can easily take advantage of such lapses and execute whatever they wish to.
